The protest season kicked off this weekend with the “Hands Off” protests around the world. There were some 1,200 events all over America. I attended the one in Beacon, New York. I estimate there were about 500 peaceful protesters, including youngsters.
At one point a Tesla CyberTruck stopped at a red light and a protester stood in front of it. The CyberTruck was able to get around the protester and make its way down the street to “boos” from the crowd.
I took several shots of the signage, as they summarize the feelings of their creators. Some are whimsical while others dig very deeply to the heart of the matter.
The photos presented were taken with a Leica SL2-S and a Panasonic 28-200 mm zoom lens. Some were run through Topaz Photo AI to sharpen them.
Conclusions
I have seen many protests in my day. I marched on the Pentagon during the Vietnam War era, and was subjected to tear-gas when they acted to disperse us. That one was pretty bad.
Today’s protest was mild and light-hearted. I hope future protests are in that same light-hearted vein, but if the Trump Administration continues to skirt the rule-of-law, we may see these protests take on a different tone. We are already seeing acts of vandalism at Tesla dealerships, and Tesla vehicles have been graffitied with swastikas and some have even been set on fire.
People are rightly frustrated with what President Trump and Elon Musk are doing to the government, and they are venting their anger by vandalizing one of Musk’s companies, Tesla. I personally do not think this is the correct approach.
I encourage my readers to take a more balanced view of the situation and to refrain from acts of violence. Our voices will be heard and we will make a difference, but in a democratic fashion that addresses the issues peacefully, and guided by the rule-of-law.
EXCELLENTE!
Great pictures !
